Sports: Anthony Edwards Headed for Knee Surgery After a Record Start, Wolves Say He'll Be 'Good as New'
Ant just dropped 47 and set a franchise scoring record. Now he is going under the knife.

Anthony Edwards was on a historic heater, and now the Timberwolves are pumping the brakes. Minnesota president of basketball operations Tim Connelly said Wednesday that Edwards is set for arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and that the team expects him to come back "good as new," ESPN reports.
The cleanup procedure was scheduled for Thursday, and the Wolves say they will have a clearer return timeline afterward. That could mean weeks or months. Connelly did not give a specific diagnosis, but ESPN reports a Tuesday MRI showed new damage that earlier scans missed.
The timing stings. Edwards has 133 points through four games, a franchise record, and dropped 47 in an overtime loss at Cleveland on Monday even after being listed as questionable. He was also seen grabbing his knee during Sunday's home opener.
"He wants to play tonight," Connelly said. "We're just concerned about his long-term health." He added that Edwards agreed to the surgery "kicking and screaming," but told his teammates, "You guys got it."
Minnesota is already without Donte DiVincenzo, who tore his Achilles in last season's playoffs. With Edwards out, expect Ayo Dosunmu, Terrence Shannon Jr. and Bones Hyland to see bigger roles next to LaMelo Ball.
